What's your favorite lesser known band?

I want to know what your favorite lesser known bands are. If you can't think of any you can just tell me your favorite bands. A great place to check out is the Ministry of Sound. There are a bunch of artists there that I had never heard of before I visited the site. Some of the music videos are a bit risque but if you're anything like me that's not really a problem.

Leave your answers in the comments area.

A Little About Myself

I've decided I'm going to include more personal thoughts in the blog so that it doesn't get too dry.
So here's a little about me. I love animation obviously. I also happen to love music. I'm a big fan of alternative rock, especially from the 90's. I grew up with Mormon parents and until I reached what I consider to be the age of "reason" I didn't really believe in anything in particular except what dribbled off my parents every now and then. Now I consider myself to be somewhat of an agnostic. No segue (pronounced segwai). Some of my favorite movies include Titan A.E., A Beautiful Mind, Catch Me If You Can, Click, Donnie Darko, A Clockwork Orange, Big Fish, Fight Club, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Labyrinth, A Dark Crystal, etc. I look forward to the start of Always Sunny... in September? And looking forward to impressing my peers when my Fall animation classes start.

The Animation Podcast

There's a real cool podcast on the internet that if you haven't found it yet you should really check out. Clay Kaytis hosts the podcast at animationpodcast.com and has interviewed some of the greats in the animation world including Andreas Deja, Ron Clements and John Musker, and Eric Goldberg. He even has some great recordings of old animators such as Milt Kahl.

New Film (Sort of) By The Legendary Hayao Miyazaki

Director of such incredible anime films including Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke released a new film in Japan in 2008 called Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. It will now be released in the U.S. in theaters August 14, 2009 as Ponyo. It's about a fish/girl who longs to become a little human girl. It's full of magic and wonder and definitely has the style and flavor that Miyazaki is known for. Check out the trailer.

First Post

This is just a post to start things out and explain a little about the purpose of this blog. I created this blog for the sole purpose of bringing animators and animation fans together to talk about the thing they love. I am currently an animation student and within about a year and a half I should be working at a major animation studio. I plan on blogging about my personal experiences in transitioning from just a sponge of a student to a skilled professional. I hope people learn something and get a kick out of what I have to say. I'll try to get some new features on to the page soon so everyone can get involved. Thanks.
